LIBRARY POLICIES

BEHAVIOUR IN THE LIBRARY

Our Library Information Centre is a wonderful facility for the whole school community. It is expected that you will use it to support your learning, and that you will do so with respect for other students, for library staff, and for the physical space.

DO make wise use of class time that you are given to research in the library, and consult with the teacher-librarian about how best to conduct your research.

DO respect everyone's need for a quiet, peaceful environment in which to study.

DO recognize that the library is a teaching area as well, and that scheduled classes have priority for use of seating and computers.

DO leave a tidy work space for the next student – clean up after yourself!!

DO show your student I.D. when signing out resources and return them on the due date.

DO NOT sign out books for a friend, or get a friend to sign out books for you – this causes a multitude of problems. If you do not have your ID on you speak to staff at the circulation desk.

DO NOT bring food or beverages into the library (water is the only thing permitted). There is too much risk of damage to our resources when food and drink are consumed here.

LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO KEEP THE LIBRARY LEARNING ENVIRONMENT POSITIVE FOR ALL STUDENTS!

LIBRARY COMPUTER POLICY

In addition to our school's Computer Usage Policy (please see your student handbook), please be aware that you must also follow these when using the computers in the library.

•  Computers in the Library are to be used for research purposes or project completion only. Be prepared to show documentation for assignments.

•  Classes which are booked into the computer labs have priority for use.

•  Log-ins – Students are to use their own personal log-in and password only. Do not share your log-in/password with others or use another students login/password.

•  Computer problems -students not permitted to re-start the computers, disconnect cables or remove computer mice. Please report any computer problems to library staff and they will be happy to assist you.

•  Document saving – Disks and memory sticks can be used to save personal files. Only disks can be purchased from the library.

•  Printing costs 10 cents per page. To avoid waste, please be selective in your printing.

It is inappropriate to use the computers for chat lines, games, personal E-mail and websites that do not conform to the York Region District School Board's Acceptable Computer Use Policy.

Failure of the above policy can result in loss of your computer privileges.
