|
Each year Theatre Williams offers many opportunities for students to get involved in extra-curricular activities. Students do NOT need to be taking drama to audition or to participate in any of the following activities. All are welcome.
|
| New this year is the Williams Drama Council. The council is a committee of interested students who help or organize and orchestrate our numerous public events throughout the year. All students are welcome to join the council. |
| Theatre Williams is our main performance company . This year, through our new Play Production class, we will be mounting The Laramie Project. We will also be presenting two one-act plays – a Collective Creation, to be written by students, which will go to both the Ontario Thespian Society and the Sears Ontario Drama Festival; and a junior one-act production, which is student- directed. Our Sears Festival entries have won numerous awards, most recently, an Award of Excellence at the Sears Festival for the ensemble work done by the cast of This is a Play. |
| In addition to the school productions we offer an Improv club and team. The purpose of Wildcats Improv is to allow students a more free-form, spontaneous dramatic experience. After a 6-week workshop and audition process, which is open to all students, two teams are chosen. The Junior team will perform at three of our Theatre Williams Events, as will the Senior team. The Wildcats Improv Senior team also represents the school in the Canadian Improv Games, a national high school improv tournament. Last Year, our Improv team came in Second in our Zone, and competed at the Toronto Regional Tournament. |
| An important aspect of our extra-curricular program is the technical complement, which is handled by our WAVE Crew. This is open to all students. This group of students is responsible for setting up and running the lighting and sound equipment for all assemblies, theatrical productions, and special events. |
| Finally, the Drama department is supporting a Drama trip to Chicago, Ill over the Victoria Day Weekend this yaer. It is open to any garde 10 - 12 students who have taken at least one Dramatic Arts Credit or who have been active participants in the extra-curricular Drama program. Student who are interested are asked to see Mr. rocheleau as soon as possible, as registration closes September 30. |
| Support Theatre Williams' many activities by taking part in one of our many performances. Your support is what keeps Theatre Williams alive. |
